VINTAGE CHINESE WOOD STATUE OF FU THE "GOD OF PROSPERITY"

This listing is for a beautiful wood hand carved with intricate detail of Fu, The Chinese God of Prosperity. He is generally depicted in scholar's dress, holding a scroll, on which is sometimes written the character "Fu". He may also be seen holding a child, or surrounded by children. Fu has proven to bring happiness, prosperity and good luck to all those who need it the most. Fu is the star god of happiness, prosperity and good fortune. Fu is the bringer of good luck. Fu Lu Shou are known as the Three Star Gods. The Chinese term is San Xing. San means three in Chinese and Xing means star in Chinese. They are often referred to collectively as Fu Lu Shou.
As one can see from the photographs, this piece is in very good condition especially for its age. Any cracks you might see are not handling damages. These are cracks that occurred naturally or during the process of hand carving. There are very few handling marks, has a scratch on his back and what looks to be a chip on the corner of his hat, please see pictures. The wood looks like solid rosewood but we can’t say for sure.
