TALL & LARGE YELLOW CLOISONNE MONKEY VASE WITH STAND

This unusual and unique Cloisonné vase has a red background with a yellow leaf motif down the neck which is carried through to the bottom of the vase.
A jungle scene is depicted around the center of the vase with monkeys climbing and swinging along the top branch, as other monkeys below reach out for leaves to eat. This piece would make a wonderful addition to any collection.

Cloisonné is produced by first starting with a nonferrous metal container (vase, bowl, plate, etc.). The artist then attaches thin wire/metal barriers to the nonferrous container to provide a raised design. Layer by layer enamel is applied, and the container fired, until the layers of enamel build up to become flush with the raised design barriers. Once the barriers are filled to the point that you can barely feel any true difference in height, the nonferrous metal is then polished or gold paint is applied to the top edge of the design to complete the cloisonné process. This vase comes with a specially fabricated dark mahogany stained wood stand.
