VINTAGE CHINESE WOOD STATUE OF QUAN YIN STANDING ON DRAGON

This listing is for a beautiful wood hand carved with intricate detail, Chinese statue of Quan Yin standing on top of a Dragon. Also spelled Kwan Yin, Kuanyin; in pinyin, Guanyin). In Sanskrit, her name is Padma-pâni, or "Born of the Lotus." Quan Yin, alone among Buddhist gods, is loved rather than feared and is the model of Chinese beauty. Regarded by the Chinese as the goddess of mercy.
As one can see from the photographs, this piece is in very good condition especially for its age. Any cracks you might see are not handling damages. There are a few splitting cracks on the bottom of the statue and under her right foot, please see pictures. These are cracks that occurred naturally or during the process of hand carving. There are very few handling marks. The wood looks like solid rosewood but we can’t say for sure. The photographs taken do not depict the true beauty and craftsmanship of this art work.
